The Friends of Christmas Nativity Scene is once again on display in downtown Plant City at the “Welcome Center” where other holiday decorations are also displayed.
A Little of Our History
Downtown Plant City, Florida had lots of lovely holiday decorations, but there was no display of the reason we celebrate Christmas.
On December 14th, 2005, Friends of Christmas created and displayed the Nativity Scene to bring Christ back to Christmas.
Our city officials disagreed with us in the beginning and removed our Nativity Scene. Through “discussion”, we convinced them that the Scene should be returned to it’s place on the lawn. It was.
December 25th is not just a holiday and it wasn’t created by the card companies to sell cards. It’s the birthday of our savior, Jesus Christ.
Some areas of Florida want to take Christ out of Christmas by banning religious displays, including the Nativity Scene, which depicts the time when Christ was born.
